2023 – Property Industry – Industrial Property Award of Merit

This 4500m² warehouse and office building for NZ Windows is currently the largest facility in Hamilton’s Te Rapa Gateway industrial park. Developed by Chalmer’s Properties, this project successfully navigated the complexity of designing towards the tenant’s brief whilst also including future-proofing provisions. A column free warehouse and large office facility allows for flexibility. Considered site planning granted full vehicle access around the warehouse, establishing a smooth traffic path. 

The design was driven from a sustainable and energy-efficienct focus, from the initial site orientation planning to the low-VOC finishes and Solux-E double glazing. The two-toned office uses strips of cladding, floor to ceiling windows, and an overhanging first floor to present an attractive street frontage. A glossy black canopy forms a statement entrance on the southern end, whilst a balcony on the other side makes the most of the northern sun.
