A commercial development located on the gateway to Auckland Airport’s land holding and Auckland City, the Hellman building consists of a 1,500m² office and 12,500m² of warehouse facilities. The brief called for a landmark structure to stimulate the interest of passing airport customers and represent the investment in quality and contemporary architecture the Airport is committing to.

The design was generated from the past and present histories of the site. Lava fields, Māori structures, industrial and aviation heritage, all contained a common theme of fluid, folded forms. Diagonal cladding following the line of the emphasised fascia around the building articulates this theme; giving the warehouse a weightlessness that plays into the narrative of flight. The project was worked on in collaboration with RTA Studio.

As a separate commission Eclipse provided full fitout services to the tenant including brief development.
