Foodstuffs North Island Development

Awards: 2021 Property Industry – Green Building Property Award, NZGBC 5 Green Star Rating

This development serves as Foodstuff North Island’s distribution centre for ambient supermarket products, supporting them to cater for over 100 supermarkets. The development replaces eight buildings, centralising grocery distribution in the upper North Island.

The distribution centre consists of a 75,000m² single ridged warehouse, the size of eight rugby pitches, designed around truck movements and storage logistics. Over 100 MHE’s service the centre and there are over 400 truck movements expected per day. In an eco-conscious decision, the warehouse has more than 10,000m² of solar panels, enough to support the entire head office facility.

The 8,500m², three-story standalone head office building was designed by Monk Mackenzie Architects.
