Aviation Security Services Building

A 2400m² purpose- built facility for Aviation Security Services, this project sits adjacent to the International Terminal and main airside access check point.

The two-storey facility houses a range of functions, including briefing rooms and lockers for up to 600 uniformed personnel, secure storage, dog areas, public interface and regional office facilities.

The main form of the building was driven from the need to limit heat gain from the western sun. Aluminium panels extend as striking box-like frames around sections of the building which cantilever out from patterned precast concrete walls. In the open plan office, glass was angled to avoid the need for blinds. The building incorporates a range of sustainable design features, including recycling of water for air-conditioning and ablutions.
