This facility in Drury South's new industrial precinct was the first building project in New Zealand to achieve a 5 Green Star rating under the New Zealand Green Building Council’s groundbreaking v1.1 guidelines. In collaboration with D3 Development / Awatoru Property, a holistic approach to the design ensured this development not only minimises its ecological footprint but also promotes occupant health and wellbeing.
The new 15,000sqm warehouse and canopy, and 450sqm office consolidates various other Asmuss sites into one central facility for operations. To aid the seamless movement of steel product, the warehouse and semi-enclosed canopy house eight 10T gantry cranes, covering 95% of the available covered storage area.
On the exterior, bands of colour and stepped facades help to break up the bulk of the warehouse on the street fronts. Brand identity is showcased in the colour palette, emphasised in the delicate mesh screens which shade the Northern facade of the office.
